Project Manager
Figma, Github, JavaScript Frameworks, HTML, CSS
This team was created for the course MI449 at Michigan State University. This team will be completing three projects, a website, a React application, and a Model-View-Controller (Rails/Django) project. The team is composed of four students with two developers, a designer and a project manager.
To create three quality projects will learn more about front and back-end development. As the project manager of this team, I want to strengthen my skills of leading and coordinating a team that is still learning. Our GitHub is linked HERE!
My team and I came up with the name AURA while brainstorming in class. In slang terms Aura means cool and confident in terms of their “vibe”. This is what we wanted to bring to our projects so we thought this name was perfect. We then each made prototypes of brand logos and combined all of ours to create the brand. Our designer then created a figma prototype for the website. Our two developers and I worked together to write the HTML and CSS for our website.
This next project we needed to utilize React.js to create an application using three API’s. We decided to make a slot machine where the user can spin to win a jackpot. The twist is it's a slot machine for all the professors in the Media and Information department here and MSU. The goal is to spin three of the same professors. If you spin three of the same professor, you will be able to go to that professor's MSU profile and their recent work they are doing. I created a rough prototype in figma and our designer took that to create a final design.
I then create the HTML for developer #1 to take and use in React. While developer #2 is locating and creating the API’s, I worked closely with developer #1 to create the CSS. I also found and implemented an “inspirational quote” api which shows an inspirational quote whenever the user clicks the spin button. After some final styling and debugging we finished the product. This next project we needed to work in Ruby on Rails to create an application using Rail, a css framework and an API. My team decided on creating a website on learning about healthy eating habits and eating disorders. Since eating disorders are a very sensitive and scary subject, we decided on making an adult mode and kids mode. The Kids mode has more friendly and simple language with more fun colors while the Adult mode has a more informative and serious tone. Below is the prototype of the website that was made by our designer.
My team and I followed the same format to complete the project. I created the html for the project and added in the CSS framework, Tailwind. Our designer helped with the CSS to fit the vision he had for the project. Our other developer created the API with 15 recipes and 4 eating disorders. I was able to implement the API into the project while developer #2 was find more websites and data for the resources page. Developer #1 was creating working directly on the Rails section during this. Since we had to host this website on Heroku we wont have the site hosted forever. Here are some screenshots of some pages of the website.
